Hi! I'm Anne, a broadcast meteorologist currently working in Des Moines, Iowa. I graduated with a dual major of broadcast journalism and meteorology from Ohio University in April of 2016. Upon graduation, I packed up my belongings and made the 4 day trek from Cincinnati, Ohio out to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I haven't stopped exploring all this country has to offer since my first gig in Medford, Oregon. While working in Oregon, I spent my weekends hiking, sitting by the lake, and taking in all the views of the Cascades. I worked in Medford for 2 years, and then made the move up the I-5 corridor to Portland. I was an evening meteorologists at Fox 12 Oregon for three years. After that, the business took me back to the Midwest. I am now working at KCCI in Des Moines, Iowa.
Oregon brought me many unique, but exciting weather experiences quite different from the Midwest. From fire weather, to triple digit heat, to microclimates & ice storms, these were all parts of an active weather story throughout the year in Northwest Oregon. Residents across the state relied on my forecast. Whether it's about snow levels and travel conditions on the Cascade passes, or the chance for lightning on dry terrain, every forecast mattered.
Being back in the Midwest is like reuniting with your best friend from grade school after ten years of not seeing them. It has been wonderful to be back in a mid-latitude climate where warm fronts and cold fronts bring big changes to the Upper Midwest. I am back in a part of the country where the weather here just feels like home. I enjoy working and living in a location that experiences all four seasons. Winter weather in Iowa has been my favorite so far. After a day of winter storm coverage, the best part is to come home and play in the many inches of new snow that just fell.
I have always enjoyed communications and the world of weather. I have combined my two passions into one enjoyable & passionate career. My goal is to always be able to work on both sides of the camera. I am excited to take on the challenge of this industry and see what the future of digital media holds.
